Opium Taylor
A Lincoln band active from 1993 to 1997, during which they recorded a single (Sun Foil/Living) and two albums: Boy-White City and fade machine fade magazine. The band cycled through a few guitar players: Mike Mogis (1993-1994), Matt Silcock (1994-1997), and Jeremiah McIntyre (1997).
Boy-White City was recorded in just over a day at Whoopass Studios in Lincoln, with two tracks recorded on a four-track in Tabor, Iowa, and one track recorded on an eight-track in North Platte with Mike Mogis. Opium Taylor’s last show was their CD release show for Boy-White City, though the band later reformed to record fade machine fade magazine.
The Caulfield catalog described fade machine fade magazine as “stuffed with creativity, twisting indie rock inside out and upside down. The music falls in the trajectories of Sonic Youth, Lungfish, or even Pere Ubu.”
After the band broke up, bassist Pat Noecker went on to join Liars in New York alongside Mercy Rule drummer Ron Albertson.
